๐น THE SCRIPT
60-Second Reel โ Shot by Shot
A templated reel designed to showcase the Desert Island Survival experience. Swap in any creator name for personalized outreach reels. Every second is mapped.
โฑ 0โ3 SECONDS
Section 1: The Hook
[ON CAMERA] Tom or Creator face, extreme close-up, slightly out of breath.
"I dropped [CREATOR NAME] on an uninhabited island with nothing but a knife."
[INSTANT CUT TO:] Drone shot pulling UP from the island โ turquoise water, white sand, zero civilization in sight.
๐ฌ
This is the most important shot. It must be visually shocking. Use 4K drone footage, golden hour. The contrast between "nothing but a knife" and paradise island creates the tension that keeps people watching.
โฑ 3โ10 SECONDS
Section 2: The Setup
[RAPID CUTS โ 4 shots in 7 seconds]
โข Shot 1: Creator stepping off a boat onto a beach โ empty horizon behind them
โข Shot 2: Tom showing them a machete / survival kit
โข Shot 3: Title card over black: "10 DAYS. NO PHONE. NO SUPPLIES." (white sans-serif, fast zoom)
โข Shot 4: Creator's face reacting โ nervous, excited, or both
"No supermarket. No Wi-Fi. Just raw survival โ and the skills to stay alive."
๐ฌ
Rapid cuts (under 2 seconds each) keep retention high. Sound design: use a rising ambient tone (waves + distant drums) rather than trending music for a cinematic feel. This actually outperforms chart music in the algorithm.
โฑ 10โ40 SECONDS
Section 3: The Transformation Montage
The emotional core. 6 rapid clips showing the arc from lost โ thriving. Without this transformation, it's just pretty footage.
| Clip | What to Film | Text Overlay |
| 1 | Creator looking lost, day 1 โ dishevelled | "Day 1: No food. No fire." |
| 2 | Survival instructor showing fire-starting technique | "Day 2: First lesson." |
| 3 | Creator catching a fish / crab by hand | "Day 4: First meal." |
| 4 | Creator building a primitive shelter from palm leaves | "Day 6: Home." |
| 5 | Night shot โ fire burning, creator looking peaceful | "Day 8: Something changed." |
| 6 | Creator swimming at dawn, huge smile | "Day 10: I never wanted to leave." |
๐ฌ
The contrast between Day 1 (lost/scared) and Day 10 (thriving/peaceful) IS the reel. Music: cinematic swell โ think Hans Zimmer-adjacent. Time to get loud at the Day 10 clip.
โฑ 40โ52 SECONDS
Section 4: The Safety Reveal
[ON CAMERA] Tom, confident, speaking directly to camera.
"[CREATOR NAME] didn't know that the whole time, we had a paramedic on standby, an evacuation plan, and some of the best survival instructors in the world watching from a distance."
[CUT TO:] Brief shot of safety boat offshore / satellite phone / instructor monitoring from distance.
"This is Desert Island Survival. The most real adventure experience on Earth โ but you're never actually alone."
๐ฌ
The safety reveal is crucial. It addresses the unspoken audience fear ("what if something goes wrong?") while making the service feel premium and professional rather than dangerous. This is the sentence that turns viewers into clients.
โฑ 52โ60 SECONDS
Section 5: The Call to Action
[SPLIT SCREEN or title card over final drone shot]
"Want your own island? Or want to bring YOUR audience along for the ride?"

๐ฌ
"DM us ISLAND" creates a micro-commitment and makes it easy to track where leads come from. Anyone who DMs that word is a hot lead.

Lighting Rules
โ๏ธ Golden hour is non-negotiable for hero shots โ the island looks 10x more dramatic
๐ Underwater footage even a $50 phone waterproof case adds massive visual value
๐ฅ Night fire shots are powerful โ invest in a single torch/light if needed
โ Avoid harsh midday sun for talking-head shots โ use shade
Audio
Record clean voiceover in post โ don't rely on on-site audio for narration.
Ambient island sounds (waves, birds) as background layer โ always.
Music: Use royalty-free cinematic tracks from Artlist or Epidemic Sound. Avoid trending Instagram songs (they get replaced and break your content).
๐ REEL VARIATIONS
5 Hook Variations
Same structure, different hooks. Test these to find what resonates with your audience.
Version A โ "I Challenged"
"I challenged [CREATOR] to survive on an uninhabited island for 10 days. They said yes."
Version B โ "What Happens When"
"What happens when you take a YouTuber with [X] million subscribers and leave them with nothing on a real desert island?"
Version C โ "Most People Think"
"Most people think desert island survival is impossible. They're wrong."
Version D โ The Teaser
"In [X weeks], [CREATOR] is going to an uninhabited island with nothing but a knife. Here's what they're walking into."
๐ก Version E โ The Safety Proof (Trust Builder)
"Before we sent them to a desert island, here's every safety measure we set up without them knowing."
This is the trust-builder video โ excellent for attracting both creators AND individual expedition clients. Post separately from the main reel.
๐ PERFORMANCE TARGETS
Reel Performance Benchmarks
Track these metrics to know if your reels are hitting. Saves and shares are the most powerful algorithm signals.

๐ Key insight: Design every reel with a "save-worthy" moment โ a fact, a reveal, a transformation. The safety reveal section naturally drives saves because people want to show it to friends ("you HAVE to see this"). That's the viral loop.
